Pickling workshop at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

Learn how to make delicious pickles using salt brine and vinegar and a selection of colourful, seasonal vegetables, spices and herbs in this hands-on workshop.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll be supported by artist Marian Abboud, Think+DO Tank Foundation’s Seed of Hope Collective, and their friends. They’ll share the history and secrets of this ancient food-preserving technique, as well as the flavours originating from the Southwest Asia and Northern African region. While you work, you’ll also learn some basic folkloric chants.

The Seed of Hope Collective is a group of women of migrant and refugee experience from Western Sydney, supported by Think+DO Tank Foundation.

All materials and instruction provided. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

On 18 May, the workshop at 2.30pm will be Auslan interpreted
