Welcome to the Art Gallery of New South Wales media office, where you can view media releases for recent announcements and current and upcoming exhibitions, as well as access the media release archive. Images and content related to our current programming and announcements for media use can be accessed from our media room below.

  • What we can help with

    Our team can assist journalists, photographers and media film crews with interview, photography and filming opportunities relating to media reports and reviews of exhibitions and events at the Art Gallery. We can also provide copyright-cleared images and video content for media purposes only.

    All non-media image licensing requests to the Image Reproduction team: imagereproduction@ag.nsw.gov.au

    All commercial or non-media photo shoot and filming enquiries should be directed to the Venues team: venues@ag.nsw.gov.au

  • Media Room – assets for media

    The Art Gallery of New South Wales Media Room is a simple, self-service tool for registered media users to easily access images and content for our current exhibitions and programming and announcements.

    It does NOT contain a general archive of artwork images from the Art Gallery collection.

    To protect artwork copyright and the moral rights of artists, access to the Media Room is restricted to media only for the purposes of editorial coverage of the Art Gallery’s exhibitions, programs and announcements within the ‘fair dealings’ provisions of the Australian Copyright Act.

    Your registration will need to be reviewed and approved before access is permitted.

    If your request is time-sensitive or more general in nature, please first contact the media office via the media enquiries email below.

    Visit the Media Room

    First-time users – access to the Media Room

    1. Use the ‘Visit the Media Room’ link above.

    2. Click on ‘Register’.

    3. Follow the prompts and enter your details to create a login, accepting the terms and conditions.

    4. Check your email inbox for a verification message and click the link provided to validate your email address (check your spam folder if you can’t find the email).

    5. Complete the registration process by providing details about the media organisation you work for or use ‘Freelance’ if you are a freelancer.

    6. The Art Gallery Communications team will be notified of your registration and will review and approve your signup. Please allow up to 48 hours.

    7. Once approved, you are able to login and browse the currently available images.
