Conserving ‘Autumn showers’ by Emanuel Phillips Fox

Follow the story of one of the most complex projects undertaken by the Art Gallery of New South Wales conservation team.

For decades Emanuel Phillips Fox’s painting Autumn showers 1900 was considered beyond repair and unsuitable for display.

Using innovative conservation materials and techniques to clean, stabilise and repair damage to the artwork and frame, the conservation team has returned Autumn showers to its former glory.
