Screening and talk Dallas Doll rides again
Picture this: a bisexual American golf pro (played by Sandra Bernhard) rolls into the dusty town of Inverell in rural NSW and shacks up in a family home. She slowly seduces each member of the household, embroiling husband, wife and son in a cunning ménage à trois.
Join us at Art Gallery Cinema for a rare screening of Ann Turner’s black comedy Dallas Doll (1994), one of Australian queer cinema’s great film maudits (cursed films).
Originally touted as a remake of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Teorema (1968), Dallas Doll is scandalously based on real-life gossip and features a 14-year-old Rose Byrne in her first film role.
This screening is followed by a conversation between director Ann Turner and artist, curator, writer (and Sandra Bernhard fan) Daniel Mudie Cunningham.
