The Art Gallery of NSW administers several of Australia’s most important art prizes. These are annual, open competitions, offering various levels of prize money.
Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2020
Following the suspension of the 2020 competitions due to COVID-19, online entry forms for the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes are available again and new dates have been announced.
Key dates include:
- Delivery of entries by courier: 3–14 August 2020 (Monday to Friday only)
- Delivery of entries by artist or representative or courier: 10–14 August 2020
- Finalists and Packing Room Prize winner announced: 17 September 2020
- Winners announced: 25 September 2020
- Exhibition: 26 September 2020 – 10 January 2021

Artists who submitted 2020 forms before entries were suspended on 21 March will be emailed about the revised instructions and conditions and what they need to do.
Young Archie 2020
Works in the Young Archie were submitted, processed and judged before the Gallery closed to the public due to COVID-19.
Finalists and honourable mentions will be announced 17 September 2020 and published on the Gallery’s website. Winners will be announced 24 October 2020.
The exhibition of finalist works will be held at the Gallery from 26 September 2020 to 10 January 2021, alongside the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2020.
Works receiving honourable mentions will be exhibited at the SH Ervin Gallery in the Rocks from 26 September to 29 November 2020, alongside the Salon des Refusés.
