The story of my parents’ meeting is one of happenstance, romance and destiny. In my work I have attempted to recreate the sheer beauty of the locality in which their love blossomed – New Orleans – assimilating the various locations with the cultural allure of the city. Through listening to my father retelling the story of their love and upon revisiting the areas that catapulted the two into the future I felt an inextricable connection with New Orleans – ‘the Big Easy’. Its art, music and convoluted architecture manifest as a city of exuberant life.
