burbangana
burbangana is a word from the Sydney language that means ‘to take hold of my hand and help me up’. It speaks of reciprocity and the generosity of artists inviting us into their world to bring us together, through art, to create greater understanding of Country, history, culture, and the connections we share.
This learning resource brings together a selection of artworks from the Art Gallery’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection. Each artwork is accompanied by curatorial information and curriculum-linked questions and activities for years K–6 and 7–12.
Our aim is to support teachers and students with learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, with regular additions to this list of works.
