  • About

This photograph is from a series by Henry King of the National Art Gallery of New South Wales. It was taken between April and May of 1889, as it shows an exhibition of 27 works then on loan from the 1888 Melbourne Centennial exhibition.
Most of the works lent for this exhibition came from Lord Brassey, the Duke of Westminster, Queen Victoria and artists such as Nicholas Chevalier. Manchester Art Gallery also lent their version of Holman Hunt's 'The scapegoat'.
