  • About

Paula Savage is a Torres Strait Islander artist from the Kubin community of Moa Island. With a practice that includes weaving, drawing, printmaking and carving, Savage has established herself as one of the most prolific and diverse artists working at the local arts centre, Moa Arts. Her works represent her cultural heritage, as well as inherited stories and knowledge.

This basket represents the significance of everyday fishing practices on Moa Island, and the process of using a beach fire to cook fresh fish that have been brought straight off the dinghy.
