I have always been fascinated by the ocean and surrounding landscape. My body of work explores the relationship between humans and the environment, influenced by personal experience of the ocean and different beaches. Our natural landscapes are threatened by pollution, overfishing and over-industrialisation, resulting from human greed, carelessness, ignorance and lack of respect. This destruction will inevitably result in the decay of landscapes and ecosystems, as well as the human spirit. Using pencil and pen in large scale drawings I have been able to experiment with the use of space, emptiness and intensity to create the meaning in this work.
