In my artwork Observations of forgotten pastimes I have explored themes of memory and time passing. I came across a discarded shed full of old rusty engines, cobwebbed and forgotten. As I looked at the complex design of the engines, I wondered who worked on them over the years and why they were left abandoned. The work is a series of drypoint etchings detailing meticulously the shapes and shadows of these designs. I then developed the mixed media by tearing and randomly placing the etchings on inked plates with words that highlighted time and memory.
