Amanda McKeith Reflections of a fragile nature

Work by Amanda McKeith

Nature is an enigma – susceptible to weathering and deterioration yet amazingly strong, resilient and beautiful. My artwork is an exploration of this in the skeletal framework of leaves. As leaves disintegrate, an intricate weave of intertwining veins remains whose function is vital to the life and sustenance of the form.

I was inspired by Bronwyn Oliver to use wire as my base material in creating oversized natural forms. Oliver’s presentation of sculptural works in their natural setting also inspired my photographs. Anne Mudge inspired my use of shadows and reflections, highlighting the beauty of these skeletal forms.
