About
The models for this figure and the squire of Alsatia (L2012.72), probably by Kändler and Reinicke, are based on prints after Marcellus Laroon in the ‘Cryes of the city of London’, published in 1711. The fashionably dressed ‘courtesan’ is a prostitute who in the character of ‘Mrs Russel’ haunted the streets along with her companion ‘Madam Creswell’.
