Harold James Lean Wright of Colnaghi's London was never a trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, nor an employee. However, from the 1930s he began buying a range of old master prints for the Gallery. He also secured for the collection a small number of seventeenth and eighteenth century oils and early English watercolours. Wright was born at Fulham, London, on 4 June 1885 and died on 28 February 1961.
He became a director of R & D Colnaghi Ltd., London fine art dealers, in 1939.
