  • About

Nolan is the young man on the left in this photograph. The pier of St Kilda is visible in the background of the photograph. Nolan grew up in St Kilda and regularly returned there. During the 1940s he created a series of paintings of Luna Park and bathers at the St Kilda pier and sea baths.
This copy of a vintage photograph from the family photograph album was made by Sidney Nolan in 1967 and given to Storry Walton, who used it in the documentary he made for the ABC entitled 'This Dreaming Spinning Thing'. Alan Ashbolt worked with Walton on the documentary and George Johnston wrote the script.
