The eight characters of the seal on the seal face is from the "Hou Han Shu/Zhong Chang Tong Zhuan [«后汉书．仲长统传»：又作诗二篇，以见其志。辞曰： 百虑何为，至要在我。寄愁天上，埋忧地下。叛散«五经»，灭弃«风»、«雅»。
The side inscriptions sugguested the engraver is Qing dyansty's painter, calligrapher and seal carver Ding Jing, 丁敬(1695-1765)， allias is Dunding鈍丁. He is considered as the father of the "Zhe school“ of the seal art, one of the Xi Ling Eights，
