About
The four characters phrase on the one end of the seal, Dong Zhong Yong He, can be traced back to the sentence of "动而正曰道,用而和曰德" in «太极图说·第五章» by Zhou Dunyi (1017-1073).
Each of the four sides is either inscribed with characters or carved with low relief design. Three seal carvers names appear in the side inscriptions, including Qian Song【錢松91818-1860)】 , Deng Shiru [鄧石如 (1739/43 - 1805)], and Wen Ding 【文鼎(1766—1852)】。
