About
The phrase composed of four characters has its reference in a poem by a literati scholar of the Song state of the Southern dynasty, Yan yanzhi 颜延之（384-456）, entitled 《向常侍》: 向秀甘淡薄，深心托毫素。探道好渊玄，观书鄙章句。
交吕既鸿轩，攀嵇亦凤举。流连河里游，恻怆山阳赋。A seal bearing the same inscriptions made by Chen Qiutang is published in the collection of eight seal carvers of XiLing, and dated 1788.
