  • About

Tsuchiya began training in block cutting when he was fifteen under Matsuzaki, who cut blocks for the famous Meiji period 'ukiyo-e' artist Kobayashi Kiyochika. Tsuchiya eventually became Kiyochika's pupil for nineteen years. This was the reason he uses same seal as Kiyochika. Tsuchiya later produced landscape prints for Wantanabe Shôzaburô. Another publisher Doi, however, published this print.
