The phrase composed of 7 characters come from a poem by Zhao Shixiu (1170-1219), native of Yongjia (today's Wenzhou of Zhejiang province), and the eighth generation of grandson of Emperor Song Taizu.

The side inscriptions include the carver's name Shigang, which can be Zhao Shigang (1874-1945), well-known painter, calligrapher, seal carver, educator and expert on ancient scripts.
