About
The dynamic grey-green ceramics of Korea’s Joseon dynasty (1392–1910) are known as buncheong ware, a term developed in the 1930s. Slightly course ceramics such as this pot provide a strong contrast to the refined porcelains for which the Joseon dynasty is renowned.
Thought to have been made in Chaeryŏng County, now in North Korea, this pot was acquired in Seoul in 1934 by the Australian artist Margaret Preston.
