About
This print comes from a series of paintings and prints the artist made on the subject of Lockhart River, a small and isolated indigenous settlement in far north Queensland. Boag has traveled there annually since 1997 to teach printmaking to local artists and develop her own work, which has become increasingly simplified, abstract, colourful and rhythmic.
The principal subject of the series is the populated landscape, marked by buildings and streets but bereft of people, informed by a sense of disconnectedness. 'Urban landscape II' is based on the topography of the settlement of Lockhart River as if it were seen from above.
