This is a study for the infant in a painting by Arthur Murch in the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection ‘The idle hour’ 1933, purchased in 1933 (accession no. 873). The reverse orientation of the figure and numerous holes in the paper, suggest it was used as a cartoon for the final work.
