About
German born Fluxus artist Arthur Köpcke (Germany/Denmark 1928–77) was very influential in the postwar art scene in Denmark. In 1958 he and his Danish wife, Tut, opened Galerie Køpcke in Copenhagen. The short-lived gallery, 1958-63, became the centre of avant-garde art in Denmark, exhibiting work by international artists such as Robert Filliou, Dieter Roth, Jean Tinguely, Daniel Spoerri, and Piero Manzoni. Köpcke was a key figure in bringing international art to Denmark at a time when the Danish art scene felt removed from wider currents.
The portfolio 'Hommage à Arthur Köpcke 1928–77' is a homage to Köpcke and includes works by friends and fellow Fluxus artists.
