About
Born Alberto Porta (Barcelona 1946), the artist developed his work through the creation of two alternative identities, ZUSH (1968-2000) and Evru (2000-present). The artist adopted the name Zush in 1968 when he decided to break away from the commonplace and create a parallel world called the ‘Evrugo Mental State’, a state for which he invented a new currency, flag and alphabet. Under this identity Zush produced obsessive drawings and illustrated books. Since the late 1980s he has become increasingly interested in technological applications and computer art. His work was the subject of a retrospective exhibition in 2000 at the Reina Sofia, Madrid and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Barcelona. He has also shown at the Pompidou and MOMA.
