About
This artwork was first exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW as part of ‘NIRIN: 22nd Biennale of Sydney’ (2020), curated by Brook Andrew, purchased for the Gallery as part of a group of eight paintings by Haitain artists Préfète Duffaut and Lafortune Felix. Both artists grew up in a country said to be ‘born of slavery and revolution’ and which has suffered from recurring natural and human catastrophes. Their images are drawn both from daily life and dreams and contain references to Catholicism and Vodou motifs.
