About
The tradition of having a commemorative medal designed to celebrate the elevation of a member of the clergy to the Sacred College of Cardinals is a long one. Most cardinals tended to choose a medallist from their own country. It is interesting that the American William O'Connell, Archbishop of Boston, chose a female Australian artist, Dora Ohlfsen, to design his commemorative medallion.
