This drawing comes from Brett Whiteley’s period of employment at the advertising firm Lintas, which he commenced in 1956 after leaving school mid-year, in the layout and commercial art department. Whiteley and his fellow artist colleagues at Lintas, including Michael Johnson and Max Cullen, would go on drawing excursions and get a critique on the following Monday from senior staff. Darling Harbour and The Rocks were their favoured sites.
