About
This print is after the painting of the same title which was exhibited in the Helena Rubinstein Travelling Art Scholarship at the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide in 1966. Jan Senbergs was awarded the scholarship. At the time of its purchase by the Art Gallery of New South Wales the artist commented:
'The main body' is the central piece of a mechanical thing which yet resembles a human figure ie the body form is basically mechanical, with a human resemblance inside it.'
This screenprint is also similiar to a painting 'Feeding the new man' 1965.'Voyage and landfall: the art of Jan Senbergs' by McCaughey/Senbergs, pg. 13.
