About
In the mid 1970s, Madonna Staunton abandoned painting, which had been her focus in the 1960s, and concentrated on collage, assemblage and mixed media. Deeply interested in poetry, literature, music and philosophy, her collages have a concentrated and meditative quality that rewards sustained viewing. Characteristic of her works from this period, 'Collage' embraces chance and accident while also achieving a harmonious overall composition in which colour and line come to the fore.
