About
Kevin Lincoln was born in Hobart. Self-taught, he established himself as a social realist painter in Melbourne in the 1960s. More recently his work has centred on restrained still life compositions, portraits and abstracts. His work recalls the still life compositions of Morandi, William Scott, Braque and Bonnard, whom he admires, but he has found his own way in the growing and contradictory terrain of contemporary Australian art with a distinctively restrained and compelling oeuvre of paintings, drawings, gouaches, pastels and prints.
