About
Plate 340 from the 'Célébrités de La Caricature' ('Celebrities from La Caricature') series, published in 'La Caricature', no 162, 13 December 1833.
François Pierre Guillaume Guizot (1787–1874) was a philosopher, historian and Minister of Education, responsible for the establishment of compulsory public schooling in France. Personally incorruptible, he ruled, according to Victor Hugo, by corruption.
