'The size and relative immobility of the large Polaroid camera combined with its ability to render details means it is well suited to working with life sized studio sets. My concern was to make "backdrops" that reflected the fantasy character and personality of the person photographed and in fact provide them with an environment in which to act.' Robyn Stacey 1986
The 'Waterbaby' images, despite their size and the physical disparities between small and large format Polaroid cameras, play off the idea of the medium with their bright hues and instant sense of fun. The colours and kitsch souvenir objects allude to pop culture, happy family snaps and beach holidays.
