About
Art centre documentation for this work states:
“This is me and mum's outstation, Alkngarintjia. When my grandfather passed away, my grandmother and my uncles used to live in this outstation and the whole family would get together. And the other little outstations there were other family groups around each other living in the area at their outstations. The 7 houses, that's my mum's outstation and we used to go down the creek, swimming where the wall, tank and windmill is.My Uncle is on the horse going down to the yard, he would muster the horses in the yard at night with the young fellas. I would go over and see the horses.
We used to live here and go and visit the other families at the other houses across the river and near the ranges. Nowadays, I live in Ntaria (Hermannsburg) and we visit the Country and outstation with my mum and dad, we take them and the kids for visiting Country and for school holiday. We tell them about how we used to stay here when it was really cold and hardly any houses around. Now there is a lot of trees and it's warm. You can see a lot of birds and horses on this Country - and hear the donkeys late at night coming down for water!”
