  • About

With the approaching night, the sacred goannas return home. The female has arrived first, and is shown partially obscured and disappearing through its entrance hole, the red semi-circle. The large flat rock which shelters their dwelling is distinguished only by two thin black horizontal lines. It is covered in shallow sand drifts blown down by the wind from the high dunes during the day. The slower mate has reached the other side of the rock and will enter his abode from there. The entrance hole, not depicted, is implied. They will sleep in the shadow of the Djankawu's special resting place.
