About
Valerie Strong’s principal subject was nature – she felt a strong affinity with and connection to the natural world, finding spiritual and creative sustenance within it. For Strong, nature had an order that included humanity as a vital element, not just subject to the cycles of the natural world, but also dependent on a harmony and balance within it. This impressionistic painting of flowers in a summer garden is stippled with light, and reveals the artist’s sophisticated and subtle use of colour.
