About
Art Centre documentation for this work states:
''That's me with my thyroid sickness cut on my throat. That big cut. With my pretty dress and top. And Candy the dog and the pussycat too. I love Candy the dog. She used to come everyday with me to the art room. She was first Dulcie's dog but she just started loving me. She was really good company. When I got sick, Candy was always there like a good friend always by my side. That's why I buried her in the back yard when she died so she could be still really close. I really miss Candy the dog. That little pussycat died the next day after Candy. It must have thought "that's my friend, I might have to die too to stop being sad and lonely". So I buried her next to Candy. Lots of people helped me through my hard time too. My family telling stories and making me laugh. Keeping me company. Nannette came with me to Darwin to the hospital to look after me. And my sewing helped me too. Because I can just stop worrying when I do my sewing and when I can laugh and tell good stories."
