Students at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

Streamed live straight to your classroom from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, our online learning tours emphasise inquiry-based conversations and connections between works of art and the world around us. These interactive virtual sessions are led by experienced Gallery educators who bring unique perspectives to the art on view. Adapted for all education levels, the tours engage students with the Art Gallery’s collection to inspire critical thinking around art and ideas.

We offer two different themed tours to choose from. There is one connection per class, with up to three connections per timeslot. The tours are hosted on Zoom. A connection link with notes on how to prepare for the program is sent closer to your booked date. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance.

Art lives here
Learn about the Art Gallery’s exciting transformation and explore the art and architecture of our new building. In this online session, we introduce students to the new gallery spaces and the art made specifically for those spaces. Guided by a Gallery educator, students unpack the major art commissions and learn about the process of creating a new museum. For more information and learning support, see our Artworks in focus online resource

Yiribana
Connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and its diversity of practice across time, media and styles. In this online session, we unpack the art on view in Yiribana Gallery, a space dedicated to Indigenous art that is now within the Art Gallery’s new building. Led by a Gallery educator, students explore the guiding concept of Yiribana’s inaugural exhibition: burbangana, a word from the Aboriginal language of Sydney that means ‘to take hold of my hand and help me up’. For information and learning support, see our Yiribana online resource
