Masterclass with Jessica Ashton Tonal portrait drawing

Join classically trained artist Jessica Ashton for this portrait drawing workshop.

Jessica will teach tonal drawing techniques using charcoal and pastel on toned paper. Working from a life model, you will learn ways to capture a likeness through observation and simplification. Jessica will guide you step by step through the process of capturing a likeness and assist you to develop your drawing into a fully rendered tonal drawing.  

Jessica studied fine art at the Julian Ashton Art School, where she taught for ten years. She currently teaches illustration and life drawing at the University of Technology Sydney. Jessica was selected as an Archibald Prize finalist in 2017 and 2019.

This workshop is suitable for people with drawing and painting experience, wishing to extend their skills and practice. 

Participants are required to supply their own materials for the workshop. A materials list will be available with booking.
