If your child loves drawing, painting and creating, why not book this fun series of children’s art classes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales?

Each week for five weeks, under the guidance of an experienced art educator, we will focus on a different artwork in the Art Gallery’s collection using a variety of art materials and techniques with each child creating an original and unique artwork to take home. 

The classes are fully supervised. All materials are provided.

  • Larger than life

    Explore the fantastical figures in the Welcome Plaza of the Art Gallery’s new North Building. Created by artist Francis Upritchard, these towering creatures are inspired by mythology, folklore and the surrounding Moreton Bay fig trees. Using observation and imagination, you will create your own expressive, large-scale figures.

  • In the mood

    Explore your many moods then, using a mirror, capture your favourite expressions in a self-portrait. Together we will find inspiration from portraits in the Art Gallery. What mood will you be in?

  • Spring flowers

    Let’s celebrate the season of spring by creating a colourful and detailed floral watercolour study. Together we will explore artworks in the Art Gallery to observe the textures, shapes and colours of flowers and leaves.

  • Funky town

    Create a whimsical sculpture of a building using recycled materials. Together we will look at artworks in the Art Gallery for inspiration. Then you will cut, fold, rip and glue to construct a unique and playful house from your imagination.
