If your child loves drawing, painting and creating, why not book this fun series of children's art classes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales?
Each week for five weeks, under the guidance of an experienced art educator, we will focus on a different artwork in the Art Gallery’s collection and use a variety of art materials and techniques, with each child creating an original and unique artwork to take home.
The classes are fully supervised. All materials are provided.

The Year of the RabbitInk drawing and watercolour
Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit and create a special scroll to hang on your child's walI. We will look at images and objects in the Asian art collection for inspiration. Using traditional Chinese ink and watercolour paint, you can add a message of good luck to your drawing. In Chinese culture, the rabbit is known to symbolize elegance and beauty. People who are born in the year of the rabbit are said to be calm and peaceful. Find out which animal year your child was born in.

Observational drawingNatural objects and forms
Create a series of observational drawings in your very own handmade, concertina booklet. We will study the work Unicorn by Australian artist Bronwyn Oliver. This intriguing work consists of organic forms which twist and turn and take on a life of their own. Have fun investigating this sculpture and inventing a series of organic forms to create an exciting suite of meta-morphic drawings.

Watercolour landscapesWatercolour on paper
Create a watercolour landscape painting inspired by the works of 20th-century Sydney modernist artists Adelaide Perry, Grace Cossington Smith and Rah Fizelle. With visual reference to these artists, we will compose a personalised landscape learning about fundamentals of perspective, composition and colour.

Animals in artDrawing and collage
For some artists, animals are a favourite subject for their many different textures, shapes and characteristics. Together we will explore the Art Gallery in search of animals. We will learn a variety of mark-making techniques to depict fur, feathers and skin.

Still life with spotsDrawing in colour
Create a fun and colourful still-life drawing inspired by the work Flowers that Bloom in the Cosmos by Yayoi Kusama. Her fun and expressive sculptures and paintings are instantly recognisable for their striking colours and application of polka dots.
