Come along on our monthly Art Bus adventures exploring some of Sydney’s popular commercial galleries and precincts.
Enjoy the beautiful and thought-provoking sculptural work of Denese Oats at Stella Downer Fine Art in Waterloo. This exhibition is both a celebration of landscape, and a lament of the way humanity treats the natural world. Textures and colours found in the aftermath of the bushfires and the signs of regeneration rising from the ashes have been influential in the making of these sculptures.
A short distance to Chippendale is the Michael Reid Gallery. Here we will see the latest work by Regina Pilawuk Wilson. Wilson is one of the most important female Indigenous artists working today. Master weaver, renowned painter and a respected elder, Wilson plays a leading role in pioneering global attention to the importance of Australian contemporary Indigenous art. Wilson has created her own visual language of rhythmic painting extending into the infinite.
Also on the day’s itinerary is a visit to Nanda Hobbs, as well as a mystery gallery to finish off the morning’s tour.
