Cinema ticketing FAQs

Are there charges and do I need a ticket?

You will need a ticket. There are no charges, except for a select number of screenings.

Tickets are available for pre-booking online.

Tickets are also available at the information desk and outside the Domain Theatre from one hour before each screening.

When are tickets released for each screening?

At the beginning of each month, we release online tickets for that month’s sessions. We reserve an allocation of tickets for in-person collection one hour prior to each screening.

How can I book tickets?

From the day that tickets are released, they can be booked in advance online using the booking link on the film’s event page on the Gallery’s website or by calling our box office on 02 9225 1627. Tickets are also available at the information desk and outside the Domain Theatre from one hour before each screening.

Can I reserve a particular seat?

No, tickets for most sessions are General Admission.

What about places for people with mobility requirements?

The Domain Theatre has several spaces designed for wheelchairs as well as seating for people with mobility requirements. These spaces can be reserved by calling the box office on 02 9225 1627 or by emailing ticketing@ag.nsw.gov.au

Can I book more than one ticket?

You may book a maximum of two tickets.

Can I book multiple sessions at once?

If multiple sessions are available at the time you are making your booking, these can be booked by adding them to your cart before the checkout on our website.

What if the session is booked out online?

If all online tickets are booked out, there is an allocation of tickets available at the information desk and outside the Domain Theatre from one hour before each screening.

What do I do if I can no longer attend? Can someone else use my ticket?

As seats are limited, we ask you to notify us if you can no longer attend. If you need to cancel your ticket, you can simply hit the cancel button on your confirmation email or call our box office on 02 9225 1627.  This will ensure someone else can enjoy the film. You may also forward your confirmation email to a friend if you can no longer attend.

How do I receive my tickets?

Tickets booked online will be provided by email, which can be scanned from your mobile device or printed for entry.

When will the theatre open?

Doors open 30 minutes before the film starts.

When does the screening begin?

Films start at the advertised time. For screening times, check the film brochure or website.

Will I be admitted if I’m late?

No. To ensure a positive experience for other visitors, latecomers will not be admitted after the start of the screening.

Are food and drinks allowed?

Food and drinks are not permitted in the Domain Theatre or anywhere else in the Art Gallery except for the cafe, restaurant and members lounge.
