The Art Gallery of New South Wales welcomed Jack and Carol for their autumn wedding in 2021. The couple tied the knot with an intimate ceremony in the function room, followed by a banquet dinner with their nearest and dearest in the Art Gallery Restaurant, Crafted by Matt Moran.
An interview with Jack and Carol
What is your favourite memory from your wedding?
A particularly joyous memory from our wedding was turning to our guests when the formalities of the ceremony were over and seeing all their beaming faces. We were worried that our wedding wouldn't go ahead up until the day of, but in that moment it was all happiness and relief.
Tell us about the theme and styling of your wedding.
We didn’t have a stylist or really even a theme. The setting of the Art Gallery of NSW spoke for itself and we entrusted Cara, our spectacular florist, to work her magic with the rest of the space.
Why did you choose to include the tours?
Half our guests were from interstate and we thought that a private tour of the Art Gallery would be an amazing and unique experience. Our family and friends expressed how it was such a special introduction to the evening and the venue.
Do you have any stand-out suppliers you’d recommend?
All our vendors were amazing, especially given that we had rescheduled once due to COVID-19 and were facing a potential second postponement in the days leading up to our wedding. The team at the Art Gallery of NSW was entirely supportive throughout the ever-changing circumstances and took all the stress out of our situation.
Our florist, Cara, was also an absolute standout. We asked her to design her vision for the space and the end result was so much better than anything we could have envisaged. She and her team even came back at the end of the evening to turn our floral installations into lovely bouquets for our guests to take home.
Our photographer and videographer, Russ and David, were a pleasure to deal with in the lead up to the wedding (even sending us a pre-wedding kit full of thoughtful items) and kept us all relaxed throughout the day. Needless to say, the final photos and video turned out beautifully and we couldn't be happier.
Do you have any tips you’d give other couples planning their wedding day?
We made a last-minute decision to include videography as part of our wedding, and we are so glad that we did. Our wedding was a big happy blur that came into focus when we watched it back, and there were so many moments that we had missed or promptly forgotten. There is nothing like being able to hear back the music of walking down the aisle, the speeches of our loved ones and seeing the interactions of our family and friends. We were also able to send this to our guests who were unable to attend.
