Does this information apply to all films at the Gallery?
This information applies to films in the Art Gallery of NSW film program, which are advertised on the Gallery’s website and in printed brochures.
On occasion, there are other films screened at the Gallery, which may have different arrangements.

Are there charges and do I need a ticket?
There is no charge and no ticket for entering the Gallery itself.
Entry is free to film program screenings, except for a few select screenings.
You still need a ticket to enter the screening, and booking in advance is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Where can I book tickets?
Tickets can be booked in advance online via Qtix or at the ticketing and information desk on the ground floor of the Gallery.
Additional tickets will be available at the Domain Theatre on lower level 3 of the Gallery, from one hour before each screening. To access these tickets, we strongly recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment.
Who is Qtix and why do I need to provide personal details online?
Film tickets are available through Qtix, a Brisbane-based ticketing company that sells tickets on behalf of various Australian arts organisations, including the Australian Museum, Australian Chamber Orchestra and Queensland Art Gallery/GoMA among others.
You can choose to create a Qtix account the first time you book tickets, which you can then use for future bookings. This is not linked to your Gallery accounts such as membership. Some basic personal information is required so that Qtix can process and manage your booking (other details are optional).
A guest checkout option is also available where limited information is required.
Can I book multiple sessions in one transaction?
Yes. If you are booking online via Qtix, select the Continue Shopping option in your shopping cart.
How do I receive my booked-in-advance tickets?
Tickets booked online will be sent by email as a PDF, which can be scanned on your mobile device or printed for entry.
Tickets booked at the Gallery’s information and ticketing desk will be printed on the spot.
Can I reserve a particular seat?
No. All tickets are general admission.
Does the ticket guarantee me entry?
All booked-in-advance tickets must be scanned at the Domain Theatre door 10 minutes before the film starts to guarantee entry. After this time, the Gallery reserves the right to reallocate any unscanned tickets to visitors on site. Ticket holders arriving after this time will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.
When will the theatre open?
Doors open 30 minutes before the film starts.
When does the screening begin?
Films start at the advertised time. For screening times, check the website or brochure.
Will I be admitted if I’m late?
No. To ensure a positive experience for other visitors, latecomers will not be admitted after the start of the screening.
What if the session is booked out?
There is no waiting list.
In addition to booked-in-advance tickets, a number of tickets will be available at the Domain Theatre on lower level 3 of the Gallery from one hour before the screening. To access these tickets, we strongly recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment.
If all tickets to the screening are exhausted, Gallery staff are able to issue tickets to a future screening on the spot if available.
Can I exchange my tickets for a different film, or can someone else use my ticket instead?
Cancellations, exchanges and name changes can be arranged by calling the Gallery on 02 9225 1700, seven days a week, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org Monday to Friday only.
Is the Domain Theatre accessible?
The Domain Theatre has several seating spaces designed for wheelchairs as well as seating for patrons with mobility requirements. See staff at the theatre door for more information.
Are food and drinks allowed?
Food and drinks are not permitted in the Domain Theatre or anywhere else in the Gallery, except for the cafe, restaurant and members lounge.
