In 1995, Swedish born photographer Ingvar Kenne arrived in Sydney, with little more than a camera and a motor cycle. Falling in love, with both his future wife and his future home, Kenne has been based on Australian shores
The journey, spanning 746 days across approximately 35 countries, was documented by Kenne, sending film to his lab in Sweden and recieving proofs in return, to ensure his photographic style was holding true. The images captured across the globe became CHASING SUMMER – Published by Bird
Press in 2004.
After more than a decade, based in Australia, shooting portraits across the globe for leading publications and commercial clients, as well as his own artistic pursuits – Kenne recieved the National Portrait Gallery
Kenne’s global perspective and recognition as a portrait photographer are what make him truly Au.Thentic, capturing the essence of this new publishing venture and Australia’s position on the global creative landscape.
Curated and designed over the past 5 years in collaboration with design studio – one8one7 – Citizen is a carefully edited collection of seemingly anonymous portraits shot across the globe over the past 15 years.
CITIZEN is the sequel to Chasing Summer and together becomes an unparalleled showcase of the artists photographic portrait style over
20 years. From November 2nd, 2012 – Citizen will show at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra with a national tour to follow in 2013.
