  • Research the Gallery collection

    Use our online database to research the entire Gallery collection, including detailed information and images of many works.

  • Locations of artwork

    You can view artworks on display at the Gallery during opening hours or through the study room by appointment or online anytime.

  • Using images of the collection

    The Gallery supplies photographic materials and digital images of artworks from our Australian, Aboriginal, Asian, Western, contemporary and photography collections for a range of uses. Find out how you can reproduce fine-art images in your research, publication, website, film or product.

  • Borrowing artwork

    The Gallery has an active loans program, making our collection accessible to a large and diverse audience both nationally and internationally. Find out who can borrow artworks and how to go about it.

Temporary closure

Our research library and archive is relocating to a new purpose-built, expanded facility within the building, which means that the collections will be inaccessible for several months.
