Sydney Film Festival 2019 at the Gallery

Still from The Babadook, screening in Essential Australian women directors: selected by David Stratton

The Art Gallery of NSW will host several screenings as part of the Sydney Film Festival 2019.

In addition to the ten films screening as part of the retrospective Essential Australian women directors: selected by David Stratton, Sydney Film Festival is presenting Viva Varda: a retrospective of Agnès Varda.

Viva Varda pays tribute to a lifetime of deeply personal and political filmmaking by the nouvelle vague icon, with a selection of features and short films from across seven phenomenal decades.

Also screening is a restoration of the haunting 1920s German horror film The golem: how he came into the world, with a live score by Berlin-based electronic composer Lucrecia Dalt.
