An online art experience with your wellbeing as its primary focus
During times of change and uncertainty, art can help us connect to our feelings, thoughts and imaginations. It can promote empathy and help us to show compassion, to others and ourselves.
Culture dose offers you the opportunity to take some time out to engage deeply with artworks, find ways to respond creatively and perhaps discuss your observations and insights with others.
You can take your own mindful journey and explore for yourself the resources we’ve provided below, or you can join us for our free webinars, held every two weeks from Wednesday 17 June 2020 at 12 noon.
Led by facilitators from the Black Dog Institute and the Art Gallery of NSW, you’ll be invited to consider three artworks from the Gallery’s collection through slow-looking techniques, reflection and sharing connections to your own experiences.

After each session, we’ll provide a link to the artworks, themes and questions for you to continue looking independently or discuss with your family and friends.
Culture dose is based on the Arts on prescription study currently being conducted by Professor Katherine Boydell of the Black Dog Institute, in partnership with the Art Gallery of NSW. Arts on prescription looks at an eight-week art program for people experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression and is revealing positive mental health impacts. Culture dose is a version of that program, designed for everyone, regardless of their mental health status.
