Ella Evans Sonny Sunflower

My painting is of my great-great-great-grandfather Sonny Sunflower. His Aboriginal name was Bahdaweer and it is believed that Sonny Sunflower is the rough translation of this name. He was born in 1893 and died in 1954. He is important in my life because he is the earliest known ancestor I have connecting me to my Aboriginal heritage and culture. He was highly regarded for his deep tribal knowledge and taught my family many of the old ways and traditions. He is believed to be the one who allows my family to remain connected to our culture.
